About Your Cardiologist:
Dr. David Dorian is a critical care and sports cardiologist with specialized training in managing athletes with cardiac conditions. He completed his medical degree at the University of Toronto in 2017 and continued his residency in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, earning his FRCPC in Internal Medicine in 2021 and in Cardiology in 2023. During his final year, he served as chief cardiology resident. Dr. Dorian pursued further training in cardiac critical care at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in London and earned an MSc in Sports Cardiology at St. George’s University London. His clinical interests include cardiac critical care, cardiogenic shock, athletic heart care, and exercise-based prevention.
Dr. Dorian’s approach to care is rooted in evidence-based medicine and personalized treatment. He is committed to helping patients achieve optimal heart health through collaboration and education. Outside of his clinical work, he enjoys cycling, running, and cooking, which complement his belief in the importance of lifestyle in heart health.

Dr. Andrew Elagizi is a general cardiologist with advanced expertise in cardiac imaging and preventive cardiology. He earned his medical degree from the Medical University of the Americas in 2015, and completed his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Ochsner Health System in New Orleans from 2015 to 2021. From 2021 to 2023, he served as faculty for the cardiology fellowship training program. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and cardiac CT. At One Heart Care, he delivers comprehensive heart care with a focus on prevention and non-invasive imaging.
Dr. Elagizi takes a patient-centred approach, working collaboratively to support long-term cardiovascular wellness. He is passionate about medical research in prevention and imaging and has authored over 30 peer-reviewed journal and textbook publications. He was honoured as Teacher of the Year in 2022 by the Ochsner Cardiology Fellowship Program and has contributed to the American College of Cardiology’s Echocardiography Self-Assessment Program. He finds the most rewarding part of his work is partnering with patients to help them become healthier and happier.

Dr. Vikram Gurtu is a general cardiologist with advanced training in echocardiography, heart failure, and integrative physiology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Calgary and completed internal medicine and cardiology residencies at the University of Alberta and Mazankowski Heart Institute, where he also served as chief resident. Dr. Gurtu went on to complete a fellowship in Advanced Echocardiography and the Clinician Investigator Program, followed by additional training in integrative physiology at Mount Sinai Hospital and in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplantation at Toronto General Hospital. He has authored multiple publications in high-impact journals and has a strong academic background in pulmonary hypertension and right heart failure.
At One Heart Care, Dr. Gurtu focuses on general cardiology while maintaining a special interest in heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. He also serves as a staff cardiologist and the Medical Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto. Dr. Gurtu is committed to delivering thoughtful, evidence-based care, integrating his clinical expertise and research background to provide the highest quality of care for his patients.

Dr. Emily Lai is a cardiologist with subspecialty training in echocardiography and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. She practices at Trillium Health Partners and One Heart Care, and is a Lecturer at the University of Toronto. Dr. Lai holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and earned her MD from the University of Toronto, graduating with the prestigious Cody Silver Medal. She completed her Internal Medicine and Cardiology training at the University of Toronto, followed by Fellowship training in level 3 echocardiography and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy at the University Health Network.
As a founding member of One Heart Care, Dr. Lai leads a general cardiology clinic while maintaining a special focus on hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). She plays a key role in the Ontario HCM Integrated Care Network and serves as Regional HCM Centre Lead. Dr. Lai has authored several peer-reviewed publications and remains actively involved in research and medical education. She was recently awarded a BMS QIIC grant to support initiatives aimed at improving care for HCM patients at One Heart Care. Committed to delivering excellence in patient care, Dr. Lai emphasizes an evidence-based, collaborative, and individualized approach to improving health outcomes. She is fluent in French and enjoys traveling, skiing, playing tennis, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Manish Maingi is a general cardiologist with over 25 years of clinical experience in comprehensive cardiac care. He completed his medical degree at the University of Toronto in 1991, followed by residency training at both the University of Toronto (1991–1994) and the University of Western Ontario (1994–1996). He began his cardiology practice in 1996 and has since served in several leadership roles, including Chief of Cardiology at Credit Valley Hospital (2003–2013) and Trillium Health Partners (2013–2018). At One Heart Care, Dr. Maingi is a founding member and has served as President and Medical Director. His clinical interests span all aspects of cardiology. He has published research in congestive heart failure and has been recognized with multiple awards, including Physician of the Year at Credit Valley Hospital (2004, 2010), the Hazel McCallion Quality Award (2014), and the Physician Practice Award at Trillium Health Partners (2018).
Dr. Maingi’s approach to care is patient-focused and comprehensive, with a strong emphasis on building long-term relationships with patients and their families. Passionate about education, Dr. Maingi also contributes to the development of future physicians through ongoing teaching of medical trainees at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Kirandeep Nagi is a general cardiologist with over two decades of experience in adult cardiac care. He completed his Doctor of Medicine at Western University in 1992, followed by Internal Medicine (FRCPC 1996) and Cardiology (FRCPC 1997) certifications. Dr. Nagi pursued fellowships in heart failure and cardiac transplantation at the Ottawa Heart Institute (1997–1998), and in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and diagnostic cardiac catheterization at Western University (1998–1999). He has been practising as a cardiologist since January 2000. At One Heart Care, he provides consultations, follow-up care, and advanced testing, including echocardiography and myocardial perfusion stress testing. His clinical interests include coronary artery disease, cardiac arrhythmias, and heart failure.
Dr. Nagi’s philosophy of care is centred around collaboration, working together with patients to achieve the best possible health outcomes. Outside of his clinical practice, he enjoys tennis, cycling, and spending quality time with his family, including his two dogs. He lives by the personal philosophy: “Everything in moderation.”

Dr. Geoff Puley is a General and Interventional Cardiologist specializing in Coronary and Structural Heart Interventions. He completed Medical School, Internal Medicine and Cardiology residencies at the University of Toronto where he also served as Chief Cardiology Resident at Toronto General and St Michael’s Hospitals. He subsequently did Fellowships in Interventional Cardiology at St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, Australia. He has been practicing General and Interventional Cardiology at Trillium Health Partners since 2005 and has served as Physician Lead of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and was a Founding Member of One Heart Care where he continues to sit as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors.
Dr. Puley’s clinical expertise are in the arenas of Percutaneous Coronary Interventions for Stable and Acute Coronary Artery Disease as well as Structural Heart Interventions for Valvular and Congenital Heart Disease.
