Q: How do I book an appointment at One Heart Care?

A: All appointments require a referral from a licensed healthcare provider practising in Ontario, such as a family doctor or specialist. Once your referral is received and reviewed, our scheduling team will contact you with your appointment date and time.

Q: How long will it take to get an appointment?

A: Wait times vary depending on the urgency of your case and the type of procedure or consultation required. We prioritize urgent referrals and aim to book all patients in a timely manner. Our goal is to see urgent referrals for testing and consultations with in 2 weeks and non urgent referrals for testing and consultations within 4 to 6 weeks with the next available cardiologist.

Referrals for specific cardiologists may take longer depending on the cardiologist schedule.

Q: Can I book an appointment directly without a referral?

A: Unfortunately, a physician referral is required to access all cardiology consultations and diagnostic testing at One Heart Care.

Q: How do I reschedule or cancel my appointment?

A: Please call us at least 72 hours in advance to make changes to your appointment. This allows us to offer your time slot to another patient in need.

Q: Is there a cancellation fee?

A: Missed appointments or cancellations with insufficient notice may result in a $75 fee. We understand emergencies happen, please contact us if you need support.

Q: Will I receive a reminder before my appointment?

A: Yes. We send appointment reminders by phone, email, or text (based on your preference) several days prior to your visit.

Q: What should I bring to my appointment?

A: Read ‘Before Your Visit Section’ on the Patient Resource & Support page on our website for detailed instructions.

Q: Will I receive instructions before my test?

A: Yes. You’ll receive specific instructions based on your test or procedure (e.g., fasting, medication restrictions, clothing, or hydration). These instructions will be sent via email or provided by phone.

Q: Can I eat before my test?

A: Some tests require fasting while others do not. Please refer to the instructions provided with your appointment.

Q: Is it okay to wear scented products?

A: No. Please avoid perfumes, colognes, or scented lotions on the day of your visit as we are a scent-sensitive facility.

Q: What types of specialists are at One Heart Care?

A: Our team includes board-certified cardiologists, diagnostic imaging experts, and healthcare professionals focused on heart and vascular health.

Q: What should I expect during a cardiology consultation?

A: Your cardiologist will review your medical history, perform a physical examination, and may recommend further testing if needed. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss your care plan.

Q: How do I get a referral?

A: Speak with your family physician or healthcare provider. They can send your referral directly to One Heart Care. Our referral forms are available online for healthcare providers.

Q: What happens after my referral is submitted?

A: Once your referral is reviewed, our team will contact you to book your appointment. We’ll also confirm any required tests and provide preparation details.

Q: Will you share my test results with my family doctor?

A: Yes. We share all consultation notes and test results directly with your referring physician to support ongoing care coordination.
